The best beaches of Ischia

The island of Ischia, thanks to its coastline of 43 km, boasts many different beaches both from the point of view of the sandy composition and the type of bay in which they are located. Below we will introduce you to the most beautiful and famous ones and we will give you some indications to visit them in the best way. 
We will start from the four beaches closest to the Romantica Resort & Spa: Cava grado, Lo Scoglio, Sant'Angelo beach and Maronti beach.

Cava Grado Beach


It is located just below the Sant'Angelo bus terminal and about 200 metres far from the Romantica Resort & Spa. The bay is one of the hidden and magical places of the island, it is unknown but enchanting thanks to its crystal clear water and the incredible tranquility you can enjoy there.

HOW TO REACH: Cava Grado

Lo Scoglio

This small beach is located in the cove below the beginning of the pedestrian zone of Sant'Angelo, right at the beginning of the village. The beach is private and is run by the same name restaurant. The panorama is spectacular. This beach has an agreement with the Romantica Resort & Spa, so guests of the resort benefit of discounted rates. Sant'Angelo Beach 


This is the famous beach situated along the isthmus that connects the swanky well-known square of Sant'Angelo to its Tower. The beach establishments (lidos) are located on both sides, the one of the bay of Sant'Angelo and the one of the small fishing port of the village. The area of port, of course, is not suitable for swimming even though the water is really clean and transparent, on the other hand it can accommodate dogs of all sizes. Maronti Beach

It is the longest on the island, 4 km long, full of attractions and points of interest.

There are 2 beaches partner of the Romantica Resort & Spa Bagno Emanuela & La Colombaia , the first near the famous fumarole and the other at the middle of the beach.

Sorgeto Bay


A magical place where you can take a swim even in the middle of winter. In this bay, mother nature has given the island and its visitors natural pools in the sea where the thermal water flows directly from the subsoil, let people have thermal baths immersed in the sea of Ischia also on December 31st as per local tradition.

Citara Beach


Also known as the sun-kissed beach, here you can admire really crazy sunsets. In this bay there is the famous Poseidon thermal park and several beaches establishments and restaurants where you can eat delicious fresh local fish. Reachable by Bus n. 2 from Ischia Porto or Forio.

Chiaia Beach


Just outside the historical center of Forio there is the Chiaia Beach. It is a beach very suitable for families with children as the seabed is shallow up to the cliff. The beach continues towards the promontory of Zaro interrupting at the traffic circle of the fort where the sand gives way to the rocks on which have been planted platforms for bathing establishments.

La Spiaggia di San Francesco


A place full of atmosphere and away from the summer chaos of the island's streets. It has several bathing establishments, restaurants, pubs and free beach areas. From here it is possible to admire on one side the profile of the village of Forio from afar and on the other the promontory of punta caruso where there is the forest of Zaro.

Spiaggia di San Montano 


This is one of the most beautiful bays on the island morphologically speacking. Famous for being the place where the body of Santa Restituta, protector of Lacco Ameno, arrived from the sea after she died a martyr burned on the boat on which she was travelling.Legend tells that Aeneas, arriving from Gracia to colonize the island, ran aground in the bay. Here is the Thermal Park Negombo. This beach is recommended for families with children because of the shallow seabed and the water is always calm.

Lacco Ameno-Casamicciola seafront beach


Along the coastal road that connects Lacco Ameno to Casamicciola there are several small equipped and free beaches easily accessible to those who prefer not to walk too much.

San Pietro Beach


This is the main beach of the municipality of Ischia. San Pietro starts in Ischia Porto and as it goes on it changes its name becoming the"Spiaggia dei Pescatori"(Fishermen's Beach) because of its proximity to the village of Ischia Ponte. From both beaches you can admire the Aragonese Castle.

Cartaromana Bay

In the bay where once stood the Roman town of Aenaria today is the bay of Cartaromana. An area characterized by large submerged volcanic rocks, emerging from the crystal clear waters of the bay rich in Posidonia, the pride of the marine protected area of the Kingdom of Neptune.
